The Honor Harrington series also popped into my head and Games Workshop was offering free WH40K e-books on Fridays. It looks like they killed that promo though. They do sell some Warhammer ebooks but they're all priced in Pounds so I'm not sure if they're available to non-U.K. buyers. I enjoyed the Dread Empire's Fall trilogy by Walter Jon Williams (available for Kindle).
