The sensitivity of the is known. Mine does the same thing when charging. (Not an issue to me, as I don't read when it's plugged in.) The screen is set as fairly sensitive anyway, possibly thinking that most people would put a protective screen over it (they certainly wouldn't mind selling you one, anyway), and putting one on might help. If there's a B&N near by, you might try talking to them about it, as their in-store people are usually reasonably well trained and helpful.
