It was PRS+ that made the PRS-505 more usable for me. I'm happy to learn that the 650 will get some attention as well and am looking forward to it (just traded in my 505 for a 650).
On the Kindle side, have you been following the hacks available (see the link in my sig). There may be something that works for your "fringe" style (whatever that is).
