It is next to impossible to get all of the nutrients an athlete needs out of diet alone. supplements are the things that we take to help us reach our nutritional goals. An example of this would be vitamins, protein shakes ( protein extremely important when trying to put on muscle), and pretty much anything that adds to a diet.

I was up to 300 grams of protein a day. This would have been impossible for me to reach on my regular 5 meal diet. I also drink a lot of horse piss prior to working out.
