If anyone is daunted by Moby Dick (like myself), may I recommend "In the Heart of the Sea" by Nathaniel Philbrick? It's the story of the Whaleship Essex which was sunk by a giant sperm whale (true story, and the inspiration for Moby Dick). Phenomenal book!
