In terms of width, I agree the 902 looked a little too wide before inserting the unit into the case, and while the elastic straps are quite tight (although I don't think so tight that they risk damaging the unit or anything of that sort), and somewhat difficult to get on, once in, the case seems perfectly functional. The additional width of the 902 over the DX does not seem to impede the closing of the case in any way, as there seems to be some wiggle room on the inside (spine) side of the case, and the outside edge of the 902 lines up just about even with the outside edge of the case, but does not overhang it in any way.
Let me know if you have a different experience or opinion once trying it. Others may be interested in how this, as well as other DX-specific cases with elastic straps, may work for the 902.

So, I managed to wedge my 902 into the Moleskine case last night. It was not easy to do as I was putting one corner in, another would tend to slip off. After a few minutes of wrestling with it, though, it's in. And it actually works relatively well.
My biggest concern is the top-right strap partly covering the power button. I don't know if it'll be an issue in normal use, but the unit turned on and off a handful of times while I was attempting to get it into the case.
In the end, it'll work. At least until I decide which of my 902 or DX I'm keeping.
