I almost bought a Kobo. For me the positives:

- cheap
- epub support
- Canadian
- like the Kobo environment (multiple devices)

Negatives:

- questionable build quality, especially the d-pad
- screen not as good as Kindle/Sony
- performance

I think given how new the Kobo is, one or two more hardware and software revisions should make a huge difference. Especially now the Kobo website (at least kobobooks.com) is steadily maturing.
