It's not dead if you can see anything on the screen. You probably need a Reset to Factory Defaults. Follow NiLuJe's instructions below but copy the contents of your Kindle's "documents" folder to your computer if you can, because this reset will wipe out all of your content. You can copy it back onto the Kindle after the reset.
