Yes, a well-reasoned article - at least until the end. The author concludes that Google Book Search poses real dangers today because "Books are not in any important sense user-centric. Whether or not a book has reader matters little." He claims the copyright exists to protect some inherent value of the ideas in books. I'd argue the copyright exists to ensure the financial value of books. Otherwise, why publish beyond the vanity publishing often done to impress friends and family?
