Most folks who follow this board know that i am a huge Kobo fan. I have to come clean though, part of the attraction for me is that whilst it works well, out of the box, for most folks who just want to purchase and read novels, I do like the techie part of working with a new product that is still changing and growing. I like the challenge of looking for quirks and working through solutions. Kobo is a source of fun for me.
My husband has no complaints about Kobo. All he does is sync books onto his reader. He doesn't use Calibre, play with DRM, or sideload ePUB. He accepts whatever formatting he gets and is happy with the feature set. I believe the Kobo is perfect for him. I'm not so sure it would be perfect if he were picky, impatient, and not tech inclined. Add to that any difficulty with the language (and I say that as someone who was raised in a household where English was not primary or the language of everyday use) and Kobo might not be my first choice. |

I have worked with English applications such Adobe Photoshop Illustrator, FreeHand, Quark Express, I have read all their user guides in English 10 years ago.
My only goal by purchasing an eReader is to practice English.
Kobo is still a good choise, but the last post has scared me, because the member has said :
I realized it was way overpriced, had the slowest page turns I'd ever seen, had a TERRIBLE battery life, and finally started freezing when it chose to.
