No, not for me either for straight eating right out of the package. Chocolate rules! But it can replace chocolate cake very nicely. In fact, I've grown to prefer it when drinking tea (black or green) over any chocolate desert. Chocolate overpowers the flavors of tea.

While chocolate is always good with almost anything (other than garlic) mochi is a much more subtle sweet. Not subtle in its sweetness, but subtle in its flavor. I can sit down and eat an entire family-size HersheyBar, I can only eat 2 mochi, or at the most 3.

And now, on my second mug of tea. This time the East India Company Royal Breakfast! But not a sweet mochi in the house! Nor any chocolate!
