Just wait, then.

Prices came down from $260 to $140 this year, thanks to the Kobo coming in at $150, and they're expected to drop. Maybe next year you'll find a reader at your price point.

Then again, there are some now, though they aren't e-ink, and you can find special deals on older e-ink models being closed out.
