Carol, that is so odd. Usually when you have a book on hold it is just an estimate. The person reading the book still gets the option to renew it. I would check with your library, because that is almost unheard of (not being able to renew past the initial first 2 weeks). Maybe they can update their system or maybe there is something there but it is hard to find.

For the OP, I say go to a store and check them out. Keep in mind for the Nook that the new software 1.5 makes the page turns faster and the contrast is much improved. You can get a chance to see what you like better sine we all have different taste. I personally liked the navigation of the lcd on the Nook and didn't like the directional pad on the Kindle3. I also like to do library books and love to see my covers in colour on the lcd screen.
