Only thing I have seen different is that some people have made calibre plugins to remove DRM or they have guis from already available open source programs that were formerly command line based only that can do batch possessing.
Also the guides are somewhat helpful and have screenshots which is somewhat more convenient than your typical source forge/Google code page.
