The doubling cube can be a very important tool even in a game without money. But NOT on your first play.

I should get into that again. I learned it when I was maybe 7 or 8, my dad played it (it was the hip thing among them in the late '70s). I even had it for the Atari 2600 which was handy considering none of my friends had any idea what the big deal was.
