I like "multitasking" in that it returns me to the same place in a state-preserved app after I switch. Before, if I was using two apps, I often had to start back from scratch after switching. It's also nice to keep audio apps running in the background while doing other things.
I don't like multitasking because you have to go to the task manager all the time if you want to get rid of the preserved state for apps you don't plan to return to. There is at least one app that seems to be unhappy (ie it crashes) if other apps are in suspended animation with the new multitasking.
I also find that apps are crashing more with the new iOS version, but I suspect that will ease up after more app updates come out.
And I suspect that my battery life is less. (A HUGE deal for me, because that's a big part of why I love my iPad. Eventually, a touch screen netbook or notebook in a size not much bigger than the iPad would probably be preferable to me if it had similar battery life. Just personal taste, and I may change my mind, but I would be happy to get out of the Apple/iTunes thing. I recommend it to others who want ease of use, but I like the full computer capabilities you get with a Windows or Ubuntu O/S.)
Also good with the update is search within a Safari web page. And folders... they are nice to help manage the home page apps. I'm sure there were other good features added, but I can't remember any of them.
Now if we could only get a few things like...
* Bluetooth mouse support
* Direct access to app data folders via USB (without iTunes)
* USB support for keyboard, mouse, storage, etc through a cable adapter (I think people got USB Keyboards working if I remember right, but it was probably a workaround, and not something directly supported.)
* Less dependence on iTunes (never gonna happen)
Notice I didn't list things like cameras or other hardware features that keep popping up in rumors for a new iPad... they would just make me jealous because for me it probably wouldn't be worth upgrading.
But for ebook/pdf reading it's fantastic if you are okay with LCD screens. Games are fun on the side. And the form factor/battery life is out of this world. I'm very happy with my iPad so far, and the update seems to be a nice enhancement.
