Aha - it all becomes clear! From the Amazon page it is not immediately obvious the MMPB is currently not out yet - it only tells you when you click on it, (and since I wouldn't buy it in paper, I wouldn't click on it) It looks like it is out as it is shown in the format list, where the hardback is no longer available (no price)
So, given this latest infomation I am willing to retract my initial charge of 'outrage'
