Well, our bedroom is upstairs. On the attic. We've an old house, and we've been renovating ever since we bought it 4 years ago. Downstairs, it's all done (at least, the structural work). Upstairs, we demolished all inner walls and cleared the inside of the roof (at least, the hardboard plates were gone, they turn to paper after a few years). The bedroom part (about 1/3d of the total space) we have finished: nicely insulated and finished with plasterboard. The second 1/3d (the middle part of the attic) is half insulated, and a work in progress. The last 1/3d (the other end) is not insulated. At all. And we have 0 heating up there.
With the strong eastern wind (which does come from Russia, btw, and is really cold!), the warmth that leaks from downstairs is sucked out faster than it can enter. So, it becomes colder and colder... With "normal" winter weather, it reaches an equilibrium at around 5 degrees.
The wind died down during the night, and you could see the temperature rise. It was -1.6 when we went to bed and 0.2 when we woke up this morning.
