Roseprose, here are my favorite tricks when I'm searching for coupons:

1. I do a few google searches for the name of the site/store and words like "coupon" or "discount" or "promo". You get a lot of drek, and a lot of expired coupons, but there is often some good stuff there. Another good search term is "group buy" since a lot of enthusiast forums negotiate discounts for their members.

2. I visit a coupon compilation site called retailmenot.com. Of all the discount code sites that will come up when you do the google searches, they're the only one I've ever found useful. Unfortunately a lot of merchants have gotten wise to them and it will say "User submissions blocked by request of the merchant" and some lame sales that aren't any different from what you get automatically at that merchant. The site invites users to comment on the sales, though, and if you read the most recent comments you'll sometimes find that people put discount codes in the comments.

3. If the retailmenot site lists discount codes that have expired, I look at them and try to guess the pattern. If the store had a code for SALE07 in July, and a SALE09 in September, and it's now November, I'll try SALE11. You can try as many promo codes as you like, in the shopping carts, if you're patient. I'm not patient enough to do it for long, but I'll try five or six guesses, and I've sometimes gotten lucky.
