I, too, thought the case had some sort of plastic insert for the impact resistance; I think their description can be a bit misleading:

On the other hand, their "Kindle Ultimate Sleeve Case" (

does have a plastic insert, according to their description, but it isn't quite the form factor you were looking for -
and it is more expensive as well.
