I've read 22 ebooks I've spent money on so far this year, at a total cost of $173.55, or an average of $7.89 a book--mass market paperback prices, more or less, which isn't a bad value for something I'm probably going to read once and never open again. (If you average in the 66 ebooks I read for free, the cost per book drops to $1.97. Now that's a bargain!)
Ebooks that I spent money on this year, whether I've read them or not, come to 46 at a total of $280.29, or an average of $6.09 a book. (Not surprising that the average drops--if I see a book I think I might like at a really good price, even though I don't intend to read it soon I'm likely to pick it up. On the other side of the coin, if there's a book I really want to read, and soon, I'll dish out more. But not more than $9.99. (Clearly I'm one of those people.) But again: I'll read it once and probably never open it again, so it's not worth more than $9.99 to me. It's like going to the movie theater--I see the movie, that's it, I'm done. (And I'm not paying more than $9.99 to see a movie, either--I don't care how much more it costs to make than a book.))
