I'm with you HarryT - I cannot see it being less expensive getting it from a retailer - generally here that means you pay more than when you buy things direct online.

Even if the iLiad was not so expensive, I still think its the wrong device to be using to introduce traditional paper reading consumers to the world of ebooks.
Dymocks need to be selling a zippy, trendy VW and instead they want us to buy a Hummer (probably a very bad analogy).

In some ways, I think they could have even started selling eb1150s for $100 each before Christmas and they would have made a killing. Then in 6 months bring out a more expensive e-ink device like the Gen3 or the one that ETI have as a demo or whatever it is.

Once the cheap device and the medium priced superior device were well established then they could get into the high end stuff.

Unless they start selling a cheaper device and start releasing more current titles, I think they have a flop on their hands.

Its so disappointing...
