The inherent design flaw of the cover, if it can be considered a flaw, is that the materials making up the cover are flexible, particularly, since the cover needs to have a SPINE like a book with two flaps coming off of it. The kindle attaches to the rear by a kind of "stand-off" arrangment. The two prongs slip into the left side of the kindle's slots. A totally rigid arrangement might have worked for a non-lighted cover. In order to grasp the LIGHT, you need to get your fingers somewhat between the kindle and the cover.

While I made my own - I just ordered the smak-dab - it probably is better finished that my clippy-thingie.
