I know there are plenty of people who want them for Christmas so I suppose people are willing to pay a premium because it's a gift. I usually see that more with kids' gifts, though (like Wiis or whatever the Elmo du jour is). I'm thrilled to have my Kindle now, especially since I'm traveling for the holiday, but I'm a grown up. I wouldn't have been weepy on Christmas morning if Santa left me a raincheck for a Kindle. I'd just deal with the wait rather than pay a premium of hundreds of dollars.
