This has been talked over before here at MR and a more sensible logic would in this case be to give rights per language not per country.

Once again I don't see the benefit on geo-restrictions for the author when it comes to e-books.
They get more money selling the rights to different publishers in different countries then selling a world wide right to one publisher.
