I think you should get a used Kindle 1 or 2. It will let you download books directly from Amazon. And you can get tons of free stuff for it, both here at our site and where me,beers pop in reporting free or bargain books. (there is a special forum here just for that purpose)

So this way, you have a very low startup cost, in case you find that you do not enjoy it. No buyers remorse is a good thing.
