New to EReading...???
Hi,
My wife and I both read quite a bit. Lately, she's mentioned a few times that she had seen people using e-readers. I can't determine if these were just off-the-cuff comments or hints that she'd like to have one herself. So I decided to buy her a Kobo for Christmas. I chose the Kobo as we do most of our book browsing/buying at Indigo or Coles (Canadian, eh?), because it seems to be more versatile as far as file formats go than the Kindle, and now has WiFi. I don't care, and I'm certain she wouldn't either, about the lack of a browser. We both have laptops and netbooks for that.
I'm not so sure e-reading is for me. I spend a lot of time on my computer and would be considered a "gadget guy" but I don't know if I can get over the book-in-the-hand feeling when reading a "real" book. I think even moreso, it's the idea of spending hard-earned money for something that you can't tangibly put your hand on. On the other hand, our bookcases are overfull. I never throw a book out, rarely lend them out, but seldom have I re-read a book either. So they just collect...
Anyway, as far as e-reading goes, I'll make her the guinea pig! Maybe she'll "take" to it. If she does, she might hook me as well. I think, deep down, that I'm hoping she does.
