BTW, in our town the municipality puts these big baskets of wire next to the sidewalk, in autumn. When you've filled it up with leaves, they will come and empty it.

I throw my leaves in the garden; to protect my plants, from an ecological point of view, to save me the work of carrying the leaves to these baskets and also as hiding place for mice and hedgehogs. The last two are like a work-out for my cat. She hunts, and thinks I deserve the best of her spoils, so she offers me a dead, still warm, cute little mouse from time to time.
