I remember very well lots a lots of Subbotnik in my school days. From the age of 7. I loved it for the first couple of years. I was one of the earnest.
We were asked/forced to clean up streets and other places....for free of course.
When I was a student and lived in 16 store student hostel in Moscow where uncivilised morons threw rubbish out of windows, every now and then they organised Subbotnik too.
One thing I am sure about. It developed my imagination. Devising all possible and impossible reasons why I was absent from this ugly event.
Different life style, different mentality, different circumstances.
