The PB360 does *not* shut the CPU off when it's not redrawing the screen. Other readers do but not the 360; the CPU is always running, to one extent or another, when its on. It is always doing housekeeping (pagination, orientation monitoring, etc) and *actively* waiting for input.
One of the strengths of the PB line is the stability of the firmware (it *is* LINUX) but that strength comes at a price.
Like a PC, when the PB360 is on, the CPU is awake and using power.
Locking it simply tells it to ignore button presses, no more-no less.
