I came away thinking that the 505 held it’s own to the new 650 screen. The upgrade could wait… As the S.Crow song says, “It’s not having what you want. It’s wanting what you’ve got”… But alas I caved, when I first fired up the 650 in my reading environment, with my reading light and not in a store with odd-ball lighting I was astounded at the difference. I sometimes I am surprised to read on various posts that folks don’t think that there is much of a difference… E-Ink screens are reflective and the light source that is used to read by makes a huge difference. I can honestly say that the 650 Pearl screen is very close to being paper like. And again the light that you read by makes a big difference… In my case I use a LED light in a fixture that shapes the light to the screen...And comparing the 505 to the 650 in this controlled environment… Well, night and day.
Wow! I'm still sometimes amazed at how great the screen is on my 505, I can't wait to see the 650 in person!
