Resets may be SOFTWARE related.
I have nearly a full battery charge when the resets occur and I keep my WiFi on all the time.
However, I notice that with firmware 3.0.0 I had several resets each day after I received it in August.
I recieved my first replacement Kindle WiFi on Sep 9, 2010, and updated to firmware 3.0.1. I had NO resets from that day until I upgraded the firmware to 3.0.2.
After I upgraded to 3.0.2 I had one reset on Nov 3, 2010, and then one more on Nov 14, 2010. I then upgraded to 3.0.3.
Then I had a reset on 3.0.3 on Nov 21, 2010, while I was fumbling with keys and hitting the font size button by mistake when aiming for the period button. I did that several times and may have triggered the reset that way.
The interesting fact is that I had ZERO resets with firmware 3.0.1. If the hardware was at fault, I would have had several resets from Sep 9, 2010, to when I upgraded to 3.0.2. That was not the case. I now believe rapid keystrokes could trigger the problem since I frequently look for bible verses using Direct Verse Jump and have large indices on the unit for a variety of bible references.
I will try and slow down my keystrokes and see what happens.
I believe Amazon guaranteed the units against hardware defects for 12 months. If I see the spontaneous resets increasing in frequency, I'll return my unit for an exchange. It is also possible that the next firmware upgrade to 3.0.4 may end this problem entirely.
As a side note my poll to test if other Americans had any reset problems indicates 75% have had no problems with resets at all. That makes me think maybe I should return my unit.
