I suppose in some ways I benefited from the overexposure and pressure of it all. It caused me to rebel.
I decided to investigate all religions, learn as much as I could about them, and then make an informed decision, rather than just accepting what was shoveled into me. It took the next nine years to do so, but by age 22 I knew which was correct for me; which one most closely meshed with my understanding of life and could be comfortably worn as a daily garment, rather than something to be relegated to Sundays, Saturdays, or Fridays.
Saying words in a church, synagogue, or mosque doesn't make one any more religious than saying 'Varrroooom!' in a garage makes one a car...
