I've found that flash-based iPods (Nano or Touch) can take a fair amount of abuse, which is a lucky break for any device unfortunate enough to wind up in my quite klutzy hands. My poor laptop has survived several drops from about a foot onto a wood floor when it got knocked off the footstool I use as its stand when it's not in use.
