As you say, "it is actually what happens."
And as others have already pointed out, the book itself has not acted and thus nothing has happened.
If someone acts based on the advice meted out by the book and runs afoul of the criminal code, then they will be prosecuted accordingly.
Just as if someone, in accordance with biblical teachings, killed their bride after discovering that she is not a virgin, we would prosecute him for the perpetrated crime, and leave the "Holy Book" alone.
It's really as simple as that.
