Well,
- you might want to have a backup if you are away from the PC and you discover a flaw in the newest FBReader, so you could switch to old and well working one.

In day-to-day reading I tend to use the same version - usually the newest working one. It is only when there is problem, or when I am betatesting, or trying to help somebody here I switch to different version temporarily.
To install several versions you need to create file called extensions.cfg.
