Why have more than one device?

I don't, my prs505 is now ancient, but still does its job. I can understand people who own both Kindles and ePub readers, the prices are low enough to "solve" an issue of differing DRM protections by simply throwing $140 at the problem.
iPads are a totally different beasts, and i personally do not count them into the "dedicated ebook reader" category, despite the fact that a sufficient number of iPad owners uses them predominantly for reading. It is a generic computing platform, it can do more, costs more, has different form factor and weighs more... The reasons for owning iPad in addition to a dedicated ebook reader are numerous. Same goes for Android based tablets, phones, or other devices that are used, in addition to other things, for reading.
