Well I'm probably one of the least knowledgeable around here, but I just go to the Calibre site and click the Download link then click the Linux link and when you get to the installation page copy the binary install string and then open up terminal in the Accessories menu(if you are using Ubuntu) or whatever you use for your command line interface if you are using another Linux, paste the string into your CLI and type in your password and hit return, after it downloads and unpacks, it is going to wait for you to tell it where to install itself, the program gives you a hint like /opt so type that in and hit return again and when it is done, you can exit from the Command line and start up Calibre as usual!
