An AC adapter for the USB charger is very handy. I use my iPhone's, but they're readily available for purchase. I also have a battery that is designed for Blackberry and I believe that will charge the Kobo, though I haven't needed to try.

quite honestly, I can be a bit forgetful (that whole age thing starting to set in..), and I've been known to forget to plug in my Blackberry when I know my charge is almost depleted, leaving me without the next day. that said, I usually will wait until I need to charge because most (all?) rechargable batteries have a limited amount of charge cycles before they won't keep a charge anymore, and this becomes even more important when you're not able to easily replace the battery of the device, and the device costs a couple hundred bucks
