I still shudder when I think about that!

I can soooo relate!

August 1987....rural north Florida along the Gulf coast... middle of a long motorcycle ride from the Estcourt Station Border crossing, Maine's northernmost point, riding to Key West, US's southern most point.... back roads the entire ride....
Riding along and felt the need for a pit stop. No towns nearby, no houses either. Just lots of scrub, drainage ditches, weeds, palms, Pines, etc. So I pulled off the the side of the road along some sort of canal and ducked behind a palm tree. I kept hearing barking and thought perhaps a family was picnicking in the area nearby. Got myself unzipped and was taking care of hydrological pressure when all of a sudden an alligator came crawling up the bank about 5 feet away from me. Scared the hell out of me! Dried me up instantly, which was a good thing, as I was back in the saddle about 0.5 seconds later. I didn't calm down 'til I hit the outskirts of Tampa!
