In light of this topic, I have decided to poll the patrons at my job (I'm a bartender). I thought for sure that most of the people I'd ask would say they were extroverts since I know them from a very social environment, but alas, I was wrong. What I have noticed is that the regulars that I talk to the most are mostly introverts. One of my regulars, who is also a voracious reader, noticed that I tend to interact the least with patrons that are really out going, but more with the quiet ones. I told him that I suspected it was because the outgoing ones didn't need me as much. It's the quiet ones that I want to ensure feel welcome and part of the bar, plus, they usually have the most interesting things to say once they open up and feel more comfortable. Fortunately, I have an atypical number of readers that frequent the bar so there is often fantastic conversations about books and it seems someone always has a book sitting on the bar, that someone lent them or that they are about to lend out.
