No worries because I know it's already authorized to the same account as ADE. Instead I closed ADE. Inside the Windows virtual machine, I opened up Windows Explorer and copied over the EPUB file from "My Documents > Digital Editions" to "E:database>media>books" on my ereader. ... I was then able to open and view my book just fine.

I'm surprised that worked.
I've only bought the one book so far (though I've also grabbed several older free books). I'll have to do some experimenting.
