Yes, unless you want to pay for two Kindles, you do need to return the defective Kindle, but not until you get the replacement Kindle. As previously stated (several times

) in this thread, when you receive your replacement Kindle, return your defective Kindle in the box that the replacement Kindle came in

They will even reimburse you for the shipping cost - and for the insurance too, I should imagine, as that is part of the shipping cost - as stated in the email they sent you. Pretty good deal, especially since you'll be paying for shipping from South Africa.
