Tob, I have not had a chance to use it as a web tablet yet. I am going to keep trying today. I have not been able to connect it to my wireless network. I emailed Pocketbook support to ask them about locating the MAC address of the device and received a reply within a few hours. The MAC address is displayed in the second row in the Advanced settings of network (WiFi Settings). I am going to try when I get home.
Last night I disabled the MAC address filtering in my router and made it really simple for the IQ to connect to it. It connected to the router but the connection kept dropping every time I tried to use the browser. I tried for about 45 minutes without success. I am not sure if the problem is with the router or the IQ. I have a brand new router that I purchased recently. I am going to replace my old router with the new one tonight and try again until I get it to work. Even if I have to build a separate wireless network for testing, I will. I want to establish whether the problem is with the IQ or the router. However, the IQ is the only device that is having trouble connecting to the router. All other devices including my Entourage eDGe connect with no problem. I have a few things to try. More details on this later.
Back to the e-reading experience. I have tried 20 PDFs and the experience loading most PDFs is slow. There is also the issue of many PDFs not being centered on the screen. One page may be displayed correctly and the next may not show all the text. There is also the problem of accessing the library of books. I found that it constantly freezes when there is an SD card inserted. Seems to work much better without an SD card in it. I am hopeful that all these issues will be fixed in the firmware upgrade.
