Well in our household we loathe things that use ordinary batteries. I think it stems from our young daughter getting all these annoyingly loud and irritating toys - they all use different batteries and we never had the right ones in. Now we refuse to buy any toys with batteries and she gets nice, quiet toys.

So if Amazon had made the lighted case use AA or AAA batteries, I wouldn't have bought one. I love the fact that it runs off the Kindle's power, even with the decreased battery cycle. Just very convenient.
