I'm convinced that it's not so much the country that causes the G.I. Blues as it is our own habits dealing with water. Most of the places we regularly travel require bottled water, even for teeth brushing. Some places require that we purchase that bottled water only from reliable sources, and not from street vendors.

Of course, as I really love street foods, I need to be sure that these are cooked while I wait, rather than taking something that was cooked last week and left sitting in the sun. When buying fruit on the street, I'll buy it unpeeled and peel it myself, as the vendors often wash their knives in less than clean water.

Add to this... I pray a lot. But just in case, I have learned to say "Imodium" in seven languages.
