I feel your pain.
Two weeks ago we spent a weekend without running water (except for the garden hose that we ran from the neighbor's outside faucet to our deck) because the pressure switch went out and the pump continued to run until it built up enough pressure to break a pipe (late Friday afternoon, of course). We lucked out and got by relatively cheaply (as pump problems go), only about $400 - and that was painful enough.
