Borders to refund me on "Just Kids" ebook.

A while back, I wanted the ebook "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. Amazon wouldn't sell it to me because of geo-restrictions. So I got it from Borders (Australia) at the high price of $22.59AUD.

The Borders ebook suffered from minor bad formatting. Worse though, was the absence of the photographs that the hardback book has. Since the book is about the early life of Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe, the photos (some taken by Mapplethorpe) are important.

I complained via email to Borders (Australia). After a few days of silence, today they sent an email apology and the information that they would refund the cost to my credit card! Yay!

Someone reviewing the kindle version at amazon.com notes the same problem with that version. The reviewer says:

"I am just angry that there is no disclaimer whatsoever that the photos would not appear in the Kindle version. Also, angry that I had to pay full price for a book that was not a complete version of the hard copy."

I checked just now, and Amazon and Borders are still not telling folks about the absence of the photos in the ebook description. I guess there are good reasons they can't put the photos in the ebook (copyright?), but why don't they say so in the description?

When the refund appears in my visa account, I'll write a warning in the book review section of Borders.
