When I say behind I suppose what I was really trying to say is that the UK always seems be the poor relative when it comes to large companies making technology available in the UK, either through lack of perceived (or actual) customer base, making tweaks to the product to make it more widely available, or even co-operation with providers etc so the product can work in other countries. I experienced this trying to get hold of my Viliv.
I would quite happily go to B&H or Adorama but getting warranty cover would probably not be possible, though it might be worth asking if warranties could be covered within the UK.
