Between the screen being large enough for you to notice, and the DX user guide, I am fairly certain he has the DX, but didn't recognize the term when you mentioned it. The K3's screen isn't any bigger than the 650.

I don't generally read books on mass transit as it's usually so noisy as to be distracting; I listen to an audiobook instead.
